Education leaders shape the conditions that determine whether instructional time becomes student learning. In this session, Stu will connect research on school leadership, reading measurement, text complexity, student motivation, and intervention scheduling to the decisions Florida leaders are making right now.
You’ll examine what FAST passage ranges tell you about individual readers; why decoding, fluency, and background knowledge require different supports; and how to audit Tier 2 schedules so intervention adds instruction instead of replacing it.
Can’t attend live? Register and we’ll send the recording.
Read FAST’s Lexile ranges as a measure of text demand
Identify whether a student’s primary constraint is decoding, fluency, or background knowledge
Match the scaffold to the constraint while maintaining access to grade-level ideas and content
Audit Tier 2 schedules and protect the instructional time most likely to produce growth
